Last Sunday I posted the details for the ride for Monday, "meet at Lowes, it will be hot, yada, yada.."
Monday was my first day back at work after spending a week on my motorbike in SD, WY and MT.So I got into the office early, head down, plowing through the emails, invoices, quotes etc..Looking forward to the ride.
At 10:00 Terry L texted me to say " have you been outside lately?" And that was the beginning of the end of our ride plan!
Just to give you a bit of background. When planning the ride I always look at the weather, think about what we are doing and what I want to achieve. If there is ever a question as to whether a ride should go ahead I consult with a few of the Ride Leaders, generally Theresa (obviously), Freddy, Terry and Paul. Last week was a bit of a no brainer so the consensus was fairly clear. It really sucked out there and I'm glad that we cancelled the ride.
As of 9pm Sunday night we still have an air quality advisory out so I will keep an eye on things tomorrow and will update as required. We may have to adapt and improvise.
Copy and paste from last week!
We will head out from the south end of the city tomorrow. The plan will be to meet in the parking lot where the Party Store is, 4801 Gordon Rd. It's just south of the Co-Op gas station in Harbour Landing. There's lots of parking and it's close to Lancasters in case you need refreshments afterwards! Meet at 6, riding by 6:30.
We will be heading out on Hwy 1, taking Pinkie rd to the Transportation hub and the water treatment plant. The higher Groups, 9-11 will probably go straight out to Grand Coulee and back in on Dewdney. It's a fun ride and nice for a change.
Speaking of hot, I had a couple of riders ask me to order some sleeveless jerseys. They arrived this week so I will have them with me tomorrow. I have a very limited quantity so if you want one let me know asap. They are $65 and fit just like your regular jersey.
Keep your fingers crossed,
I tend to be the noisy one, Theresa and the Ride Leaders are the real story.
