Theresa and I have been massively lucky over our time together. Yesterday was our anniversary and we celebrated it at the Clara's Big ride banquet. How incredible was it to meet Canada's most celebrated Olympian, share the evening with friends and have a glass of wine or two?
You'd think it couldn't get much better but this morning was truly the icing on the cake. Spoke n'Hot was invited to provide an Honour Guard for Clara as she left Regina. We rode with her from Miller H.S, past two Elementary schools and finished at Candy Cane Park. Nothing makes you feel better than hundreds of children cheering you on!
Getting ready to ride with Clara.
Behind us were a dozen police officers on bikes. It was a thrill to be part of it.
We rode with her for just 4 km but it was an incredible experience. We celebrated with coffee at Starbucks then went back to work.
I've never been one for hero worship but I will say this. If there were more women like Clara Hughes in our world then we would all be a lot happier, fitter and safer. An inspirational lady and a true class act, I was truly honoured to meet her.
I tend to be the noisy one, Theresa and the Ride Leaders are the real story.
