Of course it's never guaranteed but it looks pretty good for Monday evening.
Normally I would send out this email on Sunday evening after a family supper cooked by my wonderful talented wife. (I've offered to do it but Theresa loves our grandkids and wants them to keep coming so my idea of fine dining just doesn't cut it, apparently. For the record, beans on toast is a part of my heritage and an appreciation of them is a tradition that should be passed down.) However, Theresa will be getting off the bike and heading out on the run tomorrow so there is a good chance that I'll be out there somewhere cheering her and Erin Kiefer on.
Lets meet at the Turvey at 6'ish. Riding by 6:30. Heading out on Hwy 11 to Exit A and the 734. Ride safe and smart. See you next week. I'll ask Theresa and Erin to bring their medals.
OK all, Mother Nature looks like she's pulling out all the stops for Monday evening so let's make the most of it. Meet at Harbour Landing at 6'ish riding by 6:30.
Four of our Ride Leaders are away this week so we have two new faces leading G8 and G7.
Matt Tremaine is an import all the way from Lumsden, assuming his passport is OK, and will be leading G8 while Terry is away.
Lou Schwindt will be leading G7.
Please take it easy on them, they are both Spokesmen and quite nice and I would like to see them in one piece at the end of the night.
Cheryl Egger will be leading G6 and Brianna Hodges will be leading G4 with Alan.
Alan will be the Ride Captain.
Theresa and I will be on the road heading out to Whistler for Ironman Canada. Both her and Erin Kiefer will be jumping in the water on Sunday morning for a 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike and a 42 km run. Hopefully the weather will be better than last year.
There's not much else to say really. We're looking forward to the trip and relaxed knowing that you are in good hands with our Ride Leaders. Have a great time, be safe and see you soon.
Mark and Theresa.
Not much of a surprise really. See you next week!
because it does not look good for tomorrow evening.
I'll be keeping an eye on the weather as the day progresses but, with two or three days of rain in the forecast, I'm not too optimistic.
But, you never know, so if the weather is a Go then we will meet at the Turvey Centre, 100 Armour rd and give Hwy 11 and the 734 another go. The feedback from last week was quite positive and I was happy with the safety side of the ride. So, meet at 6, ride by 6:30.
I'll make the final call by 4pm Monday, earlier if it's obvious.
Aaah, Monty, we miss you so...
Anyway, on Monday night we will be riding from the Turvey Centre. We'll set off on Hwy 11, coming off on Exit A then along the 734 to the Brandt house and then north on Hwy 6.
I'll ask that you stay in single file until you get on to the 11 and don't bunch up on Armour rd.
It looks like it will be a nice night for a ride, but if something weird happens I'll let you know via email.
So meet at the Turvey Centre, 100 Armour rd, at 6'ish, ready to ride by 6:30
One of my friends has told me that there is a plan to put lights on Armour rd and Hwy 6 eventually, maybe September, but until they do I'm really not comfortable crossing the road there.
See you tomorrow,
I tend to be the noisy one, Theresa and the Ride Leaders are the real story.
