I was planning on taking us all to Lumsden for Hills tomorrow, however after the race today I thought it might constitute cruel and unusual punishment. Plus I want to see more improvement in the Group riding skills area.
Last week, one of our riders went down after touching her front wheel to the rear wheel of the rider in front of her. It happened because the group bunched up quickly.
She was shook up, but not badly hurt. To be safe, we called the paramedics who checked her out.Once they gave the OK she rode with me in the van for a while before I dropped her off at the parking lot.
Smooth predictable riding is everything in cycling. Your actions have a direct result on your partners in front and behind you. Please pay attention to the road conditions ahead, signal your intentions either verbally, by hand or both! Do not touch your brakes, keep your cadence and speed constant and talk to each other.
So Monday night will be a normal Group ride from Harbour Landing. Meet at the Party City parking lot at 6:00. Riding by 6:30. Weather looks pretty nice so it should be a good ride and an opportunity to really focus on the riding skills.
See you tomorrow night,
I tend to be the noisy one, Theresa and the Ride Leaders are the real story.
